VitaSync vs Notion or a spreadsheet
Keep the insight, lose the upkeep
A Notion template or a spreadsheet is a natural place to start tracking. It is free, it bends to any shape you like, and you own every cell.
The trouble shows up a few weeks in. Everything is typed by hand, and logging on a phone is fiddly. The interesting question, what moves with what, needs formulas you have to write and maintain. VitaSync keeps the flexibility where it matters, with custom metrics, and takes the upkeep off your hands.
At a glance
Pick Notion or a spreadsheet if
- You enjoy building and adjusting your own system
- You track something unusual, in a very specific format
- You want it free, on every device, including your laptop
Pick VitaSync if
- You want sleep and steps to fill themselves in
- You want connections found for you, not formulas to maintain
- You mostly log on your phone

The beta column is what testers get first, on Android. The 1.0 column is our plan for the public launch, so it can change. Planned means it is on the roadmap but not in that release. The “Notion or a spreadsheet” column describes a typical tracker built by hand, as of 17 September 2026. Yours can do whatever you build it to do.
Why you might switch
A tracking spreadsheet asks for a little typing every day and gives little back until you build the formulas. With VitaSync, sleep and steps arrive on their own, the check-in takes seconds, and the analysis is already done.
Where Notion or a spreadsheet is still the better pick
If you enjoy building systems, or you track something unusual in a very specific format, a Notion page or a spreadsheet is hard to beat. It is free, works on every device, and never changes under you. VitaSync is more opinionated, and its beta is Android only. You can also export everything from VitaSync to CSV and keep a spreadsheet as your archive.
Questions
Can I still use a spreadsheet with VitaSync?
Yes. VitaSync exports everything to CSV or JSON whenever you like, so you can keep a spreadsheet for your own analysis.
Can I import my Notion or spreadsheet tracker?
Not yet. CSV import is planned, so your history can come with you when it lands.
When can I use VitaSync?
The beta starts on Android in 2026, with iOS to follow. It is free, and the waitlist gets invites first, in order.
